MDA is underway in Solomon Islands

MDA is underway in Solomon Islands. Half of the provinces have commenced MDA with the others to commence shortly. Training of trainers took place in Honiara in June before each trainer returned to their province to conduct the training with MDA staff including nurses, health promotion officers, pharmacy officers and health volunteers. More than 1000 staff have participated in these trainings across the country. With the assistance of WSP, each province has formulated their microplans to roll out MDA. WSP Solomon Islands staff have also been busy conducting supervisory visits and coverage surveys in each of the provinces.

The WSP team recently visited MDA taking place in Mamarei Village in west Guadalcanal. Village members were enthusiastic about scabies treatment being available in their village.
